a- College Teaching:
Teaching and planning the syllabus of many courses in Agronomy with emphasis on crop breeding and crop technology in both under-graduate and post-graduate levels in Assiut University, Alexandria University, King Saud University, and Damanhour University.
b. Crop Breeding Research:
• Supervising more than 17 graduate students (See the attached document).
• Conducting serious research on breeding crop plants (with emphasis on wheat) for stress tolerance (Heat, Drought, and Salt) resulting in
improved methodology for screening wheat for heat and drought tolerance (See the attached list of publications and the documented list of my students).
• The Principal investigator of the research project (NGT 19) entitled "Screening Local and Introduced Wheat Lines for Heat Tolerance." funded by Agricultural Research Center of King Saud University & King Abdul-Aziz city for Science and Technology (1997-2001).
• Participation in grain sorghum and wheat breeding Programs at Assiut
University, Egypt, (1978 – 1984).
• Participation in Colorado Wheat Project under the supervision of my academic advisor, Prof. Dr. James S. Quick (the principal investigator of the Colorado Wheat Project at that time; 1984 – 1988).
• Skilled in data analysis and computer techniques as an experience of academic studies and research.
• Since I had the responsibility of establishing the Agronomy department in Damanhour University in Egypt, my essential concern was to get our young teaching assistants well motivated and well educated in widely divergent areas of specialty. My own believe was to build good self- confident faculty members where this approach was to some extend compensating the low facility capabilities encountered in a new rising university.
• Attended and participated in several scientific conferences in U.S.A, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, some of these activities as:
- 17th Hard Red Wheat Workers Conf., Manhattan, Kansas, U.S.A, 24-27 Feb. 1986.
- 79th Annual Meeting of American Society of Agronomy, Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A, Nov. 29 - Dec. 4, 1987.
- Presenting a research paper at The 80th Annual Meeting of American Society of
Agronomy, Anaheim, California, U.S.A, Nov. 27 - Dec. 2, 1988.
- Annual Meeting of Western Society of Crop Science, Fort Collins, Colorado, U.S.A, June 13-16, 1988.
- The Egyptian Society of Agronomy Meetings during the period 1989-1995.
- Participated in preparing and proceedings of the first Saudi meeting of
Agricultural Sciences at King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 1997.
- A member of the conference entitled "Training and Agricultural Education in the Near East" sponsored by FAO in co-operation with King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (Nov. 1997).
- A member of the Saudi Symposium on Salt-tolerant plants - King Abdul-Aziz city for Science and Technology (April, 1998).
- Participation in the Fifth Annual Round Discussion of the Arabic Institute for
Developing Cities, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (April, 1998).
- Participation by two research papers in the ninth Annual meeting of Saudi Society of Biology, King Abdul-Aziz University, Geddha, Saudi Arabia (Feb. 1999).
- Participated in The 1st Saudi Symposium on Academic Publishing, 19-21 March
2001. King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
- Participated in The Third Conference on Desertification and Environmental
Studies (Beyond the year 2000). 30/11-4/12/1999, King Saud University - Center of Desert Studies - Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
- Presenting two research papers at The International Sugar Conference, Al-Arish, Egypt, Sept. 11-14, 2008:
" Induction of transgenic sugarcane plants resistant to stem borers employing Agro bacterium-mediated transformation." & "Biosafety and risk assessment of transgenic sugarcane plants".
- Participated in The ASA-CSSA-SSSA International Annual Meetings; Cincinnati, Ohio, 2012 ). Abstract # 71246 entitled "Using DArT Markers to Monitor Genetic Diversity Throughout Selection In Structured Wheat Populations".
C. Scientific and Technical Reports:
• Writing many scientific and technical reports on theses and dissertations in several Egyptian and Saudi Arabian universities.
• Judging and reporting research projects for plant breeding and crop production in Egyptian and Saudi universities, and Egyptian Academy of Science and research centers.
• Writing scientific reports for Faculty members (Assistant Professors and Professors) Promotions as a member of the Egyptian Universities Promotion Committee [EUPC]; Supreme Council of the Egyptian Universities since 2008.
• Executing scientific reports as a referee for many Egyptian and Arabic scientific periodicals.
• Participating in the national Egyptian committee of wheat and writing reports on field visits - Egyptian research center, Giza, Egypt.
