The Department of Biochemistry is one of the basic science departments in the Faculty of Science at Damanhur University,
and the Department of Biochemistry was established as a division of the Department of Chemistry in 2016 at the Faculty of
Science, after which the Department of Biochemistry grew rapidly to be a separate department in 2023.
The Department of Biochemistry is interested in studying the biochemical processes that occur inside the cells of living
organisms and how cells communicate with each other by understanding the rules of construction and content of
biomolecules and their various functions in the cell such as carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, enzymes, hormones, vitamins and
nucleic acids and their various applications in the field of biochemical analysis and nutrition. It also interested in studying of
cancer biology, cell signaling, immunology and molecular biology
Biochemistry Department of presents various programs at the undergraduate level, including the specific single biochemistry,
as well as dual programs (biochemistry and chemistry), and special programs (biochemistry and nutrition) and (biochemistry
and microbial biotechnology).
In addition, the Department of Biochemistry offers several postgraduate programs such as the Biochemistry Diploma Program,
which is the first program at Damanhur University was accredited by the Egyptian Ministry of Health, the Nutritional
Biochemistry Diploma Program, and the Infection Control Diploma Program,
in addition to the Master and Ph.D. degrees in Biochemistry
