A Cooperation Protocol between the Ministry of Higher Education,
15 Governmental Universities, and AMIDEAST to Establish Centers
that Serve and Support People with Special Needs
Prof. Dr. Abdel Hamid El Sayed Abdel Hamid - Vice President of Damanhour University for Postgraduate Studies and Research
– signed a cooperation protocol between the university, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research,
and the American organization AMIDEAST to establish a center to serve and support students with special needs.
The protocol was signed in the presence of the presidents of the fifteen universities,
Prof. Dr. Quincy Dermody - Director and Chief of Party of the USAID-Funded Higher Education
Initiative (HEI) Public University Scholarships Program in Egypt -
and Prof. Dr. Adel Abdel Ghaffar - Media Adviser and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry.
Prof. Dr. Abdel Hamid emphasized the university's keenness to help students with special needs and remove all cultural, material,
social, and other barriers they face to advance them scientifically, academically, and practically to serve their society. In his speech,
Prof. Dr. Ayman Ashour - Deputy Minister for University Affairs - emphasized the interest of the Egyptian Ministry
and the Egyptian government for people with special needs and taking tangible measures to create a suitable environment
for them and provide them with equal opportunities in universities.
